First Thought publishes short verse (max of 10 lines, flush left, no haiku or tanka, no end rhyme), and prose poems (single paragraph, max of 75 words). 

Please submit 3-5 poems in the body of an email, with the subject “POETRY SUBMISSION,” to FirstThoughtEditor@gmail.com, along with a brief biographical note of no more than 50 words. You can generally expect a reply within a few days, and rarely will it take longer than two-weeks. Please – no simultaneous submissions or previously published work. 

We will not publish work that includes graphic violence, graphic sex, obscenity, or overt political ranting (left or right).  Work of a spiritual nature is fine, but this not a religious platform and we have no wish to offend anyone’s religious beliefs, or lack thereof. No pseudonyms and no links.
